Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about vehicle registration, homologation, STK, insurance and imports.
How much does registering a car from the EU cost?
Registration of a car imported from the EU is from 8 900 Kč. We confirm the final price after checking your documents. Official fees and STK fees are paid separately.
How long does registration of an imported car take?
For a car from the EU it usually takes from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the documents and STK availability. Cars from the USA or Dubai take longer because the vehicle needs technical approval.
What documents do I need to register a car from the EU?
Usually a purchase contract or invoice, the foreign registration document (and a deregistration proof if the country issues one), your ID or passport and proof of insurance. Depending on the car we may also need a COC certificate. We will send you the exact list once we know the car details.
Can a car from the USA or Dubai be registered in the Czech Republic?
Yes. A vehicle from outside the EU needs individual approval (homologation), then STK, insurance and plates. Registration of a car from the USA or Dubai is from 49 900 Kč. Contact us before you buy and we will check whether importing the car makes sense.
What are homologation and a COC certificate?
Homologation (type approval or individual approval) confirms that a vehicle meets the technical requirements for use in the Czech Republic. A COC certificate is a manufacturer document that makes approval easier. If you do not have one, we help obtain a technical data extract or arrange individual approval. Homologation is from 14 900 Kč.
Can you handle everything under a power of attorney?
Yes. Under a power of attorney we deal with the authorities, STK and insurers for you, so you do not need to visit offices yourself. A power-of-attorney template is available in the downloads section.
How much does an ownership transfer cost and what is the deadline?
An ownership transfer is from 990 Kč with us; the official administrative fee is paid separately. A change of owner must be reported within 10 working days of the transfer.
