A permanently fitted towbar is a modification of the vehicle. To tow a trailer legally, this change must be entered in the registration certificate.
Step by step
- Use an approved towbar and keep its documentation.
- Have the towbar professionally fitted.
- Arrange a technical inspection and the necessary confirmation of the modification.
- Have the change entered in the registration certificate at the transport office.
What to watch out for
- the towbar must be designed specifically for your vehicle type,
- without the entry in the documents you risk problems at roadside checks and at the MOT (STK),
- older or modified cars may need an individual assessment.
We arrange it for you
We review the documentation, book the technical inspection and have the change entered at the office. More on the Towbar registration page.
